This easy taco seasoning recipe with simple ingredients will make your food taste fantastic without all of the additives that taco seasoning packets have. It makes a great addition to your low carb kitchen!
Sprinkle this on ground meat that you’ll use for tacos, burritos, nachos, taco salad, or any other meal you have planned. Or, add it to broth to make a delicious taco soup!
Why should you make your own?
The first two ingredients on the packet I read were Maltodextrin (derived from starch and another word for sugar) and Corn Starch (which is not only high in carbs but will kick you out of ketosis). A few ingredients lower on the list were Sugar and Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil. Plus the additives none of us should be consuming like Silicon Dioxide (anticaking agent), Natural Flavor (whatever that is), and Ethoxyquin (preservative).
This homemade taco seasoning is a great alternative that you can consume on a low carb or keto diet to make food that still tastes great.
Your wallet will also thank you. A single packet of taco seasoning is usually around a dollar.
Just a dollar. That doesn’t seem like such a splurge. Yet, when you consider that cost for approximately 2 tablespoons of seasoning, made of spices that you probably already have in your pantry, it seems like a waste. Purchase enough of these little $1 items and your grocery bill can shoot up in a hurry.
The other benefits to making your own taco seasoning recipe:
You can:
- Easily adjust the flavor to suite your family’s taste buds and heat preferences
- Make large and small batches as needed

- Gift it to your friends in a cute little jar
