What Is Chicken Piccata

Chicken piccata is a super easy and quick chicken dish that is breaded chicken that is sauteed on the stove. You have a creamy lemon sauce and capers. Add in white wine for added flavor.

How Many Net Carbs In Chicken Piccata Per Serving

You will find this specific recipe has 4 net carbs per serving, which is pretty good. If you and your family don’t eat all of this night one, you can store it and use for meal prepping for lunch or dinner later in the week.

The leftovers taste almost as good night one of serving it fresh.

What To Serve With Chicken Piccata

  • sauteed spinach
  • cauliflower rice
  • green salad
  • vegetable (roasted or steamed)

You will find this dish is somewhat of a meal in one, where you don’t have to add other sides. But, if you feel you want other side dishes go for it. The items listed above are a few of my favorites. Just remember to add the net carbs into your count.

Calories In Capers

Capers add a ton of flavor to this keto chicken recipe. You will find a tablespoon of capers only has 2 calories. Capers are also a nice source of protein, vitamin E, C, K, and  A, and calcium. Capers are also high sodium so make sure to eat in moderation.

What noodles can I eat on Keto

There are lots of low carb and keto friendly noodle options that would work great for this dish. I used palmini linguini noodles, which are made from hearts of palm and are very much like regular noodles (both taste and texture).

Can I Make This In Instant Pot Or Crock Pot

You would need to adapt the recipe to fit the cooking device. You will find with the Instant Pot you would not want to mix in the cream until after you are done cooking or it could give you the burn notice and curdle it. Dairy does not do well in the Instant Pot when under pressure.

What Flour To Use For Breading Chicken

An easy chicken piccata without flour, well all-purpose flour that is. I reached for almond flour. It offers a mild nutty flavor that will help to coat and cook up nicely as you saute the chicken. It also is keto-approved so that is always a win.

How To Store Leftover Piccata Chicken

Store your leftover keto lemon chicken piccata in the fridge for up to three days. You can warm up leftovers in the microwave or heat it all up in a skillet. If you need to add a bit more wine to the mixture to help thin up the sauce if you feel it is too thick.

Begin by seasoning the chicken cutlets generously with salt and pepper.

Next using almond flour dredge each chicken cutlet and then set aside.

Then you will want to heat the butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat on the stove top.

Carefully add the dredged chicken to the hot skillet, and cook for approximately 3 to 5 minutes on each side until the chicken is crispy, brown, and throughly cooked. Once cooked remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside (keep it warm).

Now add the chopped shallots to the skillet, you will want to cook for a few minutes until they begin to soften.

Place the garlic into the skillet, continue to sauté for another 15 to 30 seconds.

Then reduce the heat to medium, and add in the white cooking wine. Let it simmer to cook down until the liquid is reduced by half.

Mix in the lemon juice and the bone broth.

Next add the heavy whipping cream to the skillet, and stir to combine the mixture together.

Add in the capers. Continue to let the sauce simmer until it thickens.

Place the chicken back to the skillet, and spoon the sauce mixture over the top.
